Back to School Shopping Wishlist

I'm sure that many of us are lamenting the dog days of summer (as well as its impending, bittersweet conclusion). But for me, August always evokes back to school shopping. Granted I don't actually shop for new school clothes the way I did with my mom as a growing, school-aged child. But I still get excited this time of year. I felt nostalgic enough the other day to buy a cheap pack of crayons and some loss-leader notepads, just because. I love school supplies even if I don't really have a pressing need for anything. I justified the purchase because I know I can give away some of my stockpile to a new neighbor with a daughter in elementary school. I've also to started thinking about my fall wishlist. I can't get my mind off of schoolboy inspired satchel handbags, even if I have no plans to buy any in the immediate future. Still, here are some of my favorites!

Nice amassment of satchels, lady! I love that most can be worn cross body. And I'm with you Jess, although I've been out of school for a few years (okay, a decade) I still get those butterfly'ish feelings once August rolls around.

how many packs of crayons can I not buy in order to afford the mulberry alexa...?  sigh.  so beautiful and so distant.

I love the Mulberry Alexa!  I've been in denial about fall, but now that it's August, I'm glad I'll have fall fashion to distract me from the fact that I'm going back to work.  I do share your love of school supplies though.  That's always fun.

I did hop off the GAAD wagon for a shopping trip with a friend for us to buy some new teaching attire.  She's been on sabbatical and lost some weight and some of the the things I've worn to work have been worn and washed so many times that they are starting to look a little worse for wear - pilled, thin, losing shape. It was so fun - in part because I haven't really shopped for months and in part because it was like back-to-school shopping.  I have two briefcases that are in excellent condition, but I would like a backpack so I don't have to continually borrow my husband's when I want to bike into campus with more than two books.

Interesting...I've been on the hunt for a vintage leather messenger bag for a while now. Any ideas on where to find one?

Great choice of bags!  I especially like the two in the top right corner.

Ooooh, I love the plum bag on the bottom left.  Nice picks!  I cannot BELIEVE it's back to school....... I can't think about that right now!  Must live in denial.

I love the Scholar Satchel from Madewell. $100 and Free Ship is very reasonable!  I've had my eye on this one from Anthro.  I hope it makes sale sometime this year.
