In the dark OOTD

I wore my darker hued Bold Boutonnière to campus last week and was anthro-spotted by a student. Frankly, I didn't think my undergrads knew about Anthropologie (since the brick and mortar stores are just far enough away from campus and they're a bit younger than the target demographic). But sure enough, a stylish student asked if my dress was from Anthropologie. And in the process of our conversation, my addiction was outed. Thankfully I don't think most of my students know how much of my wardrobe is sourced from there... haha

Do your coworkers, colleagues, or (if you're in the classroom) students know about your brand fandom?

When the Ric Rac Clotilde dress went on sale I almost bought it, but didn't know how it would hang on my body. The next day I went into class and saw one of my freshman wearing it. From how it fit her, I figured I was a medium and would not be purchasing it since I was not going to wear it to teach in. On the day of my exam defense I was wearing the purple Charlie + Robin sweatercoat, bought for the occasion and only afforded because a button was missing and that meant it was $40 off (took me 2 minutes to replace it). Saw former student in coffee shop wearing same one.

That said, I've freaked a few people out by asking about their anthro items, especially the ones I've passed up.

I just graduated but am still doing research on campus and my profs have anthro spotted me, plus several friends. Now most people won't even ask where I got whatever I'm wearing from. They know its anthro

Ha my friends from home definitely know about my addiction - but as for my coworkers now that I have moved to a tiny college town in Eastern NC, they have no idea. And if I am asked where I got something from and reply with "anthropologie" I am rewarded with a blank stare of confusion.

i love that skirt! the stripes and color are great.
this semester is my 1st time teaching an undergrad class, so the students are less specialized, and quite a few are in fashion. so they definitely recognize my handbags- i had a long chat with one this week about color change in the PS1 and her rebecca minkoff bag!

it might just depend on what catalogs the youngin's get in the mail. i got anthro catalogs in the late 90s, but the closest store was an hour away. i didn't own any anthro clothes then, but could recognize them. plus, with the internet and seeing it all over tv on shows like glee, it is much more pervasive these days.

YES

My one friend outed me in a cashmere sweater that I'd THRIFTED. I didn't even know how old it was (got it at a resale shop), and she was all like, "I knew it!" since she'd seen me in other anthro pieces.

I love the outfit! Since there's no actual Anthro store in my college town, I feel a bit safer wearing clothes from there here than I did at my grad institution. But I think my love of Fluevog has been outed a time or two.

My friends have no idea where I get most of my stuff and I am glad they would totally freak out if they had any idea what some things cost!
