A friend from Fashionism sent me this chambray dress from H&M as a random act of kindness. And it is just a touch too short so I decided to layer underneath it a scallop hemmed petticoat I bought from ebay a while back. The colorblocking result reminded me of a Rag & Bone dress I almost bought this time last year but passed up. I tied a belt over top and grabbed a vintage metallic bag.

ChloƩ metallic flats (similar here and here)

I was a little hot in the layers but I wore it errand running to places with air conditioning so it didn't matter too much.

I love this outfit Jess - the petticoat underneath is perfect!!
I love it! I actually thought the petticoat was a part of the dress at first till I read your post, looks really good!
What a beautiful and creative outfit. Awesome that you got this shirt through another blogger. The metallic accessories add just the right amount of edge the outfit.
(oops, I meant to say "to the the outfit.")
soooo adorable.
Great idea to layer under a too short dress. I shall copy :)
I, too, am loving the layers. Also, what size are your feet? I've got a pair of blush pointy-toed kitten heels that could be yours for the very reasonable fee of one pair of metallic Chloe ballerina flats. . .
Kim, Brianna, and muzzleloader, thank you!
Rad, the tunic actually came from a poster in one of the fashion forums I frequent called fashionism.org.
Desert Flower, exposed slips and petticoats are the best solution to a too short hemline. :)
A-dubs, thanks for the compliment! I wear 7.5-8 usually. But I love my flats (and am a total heel wuss) so sadly we do not have a deal. lol!
I love this! Also I don't think I've ever seen you with your hair pulled back. It looks really nice.
