Scenes from the Allegheny River
Last weekend the wonderful parents of Elaina invited Chris, Rich (Elaina's beau* and our dear friend that lives across the street), and me to head on their family boat along with their daughter for some river fun. Last time we had the privilege of doing this was right before the wedding. Then it was just chilly enough that river swimming wasn't part of the agenda. This time was different. It was a hot and sunny day. And we all brought our bathing suits. I hadn't swam in a SWPA river for nearly a decade. And I had never done so in the Allegheny.
I was a little nervous because I'm not the strongest swimmer but I was so glad I went for it.
*I like to think that the wedding (and by association, Chris and I) had a hand in bringing Elaina and Rich together. They helped deliver and set up the cake (which was made for us by two other close friends of ours). And they danced at our wedding to very lovey-dovey songs, after which they began truly courting one another. So... yeah I like to take quiet credit for a part of that. Plus, it's just super fun to hang with two friends who have found romantic company in one another!

Oh, this looks like loads of fun. We do this sort of thing on the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.

I regret not visiting the Allegheny river while living in Pittsburgh..looks so pretty! How far is it from downtown?
