Forested Blazer

I really really like this Anthropologie sale piece (called the Forested Blazer) but, (1) it is still too expensive (2) especially if it isn't an additional 40% off and (3) I can't envision how to wear it professionally. Casually, it is versatile. Professionally I struggle to envision how I can wear it. And if I am going to drop cash on a blazer then it should at least be somewhat conference-friendly.

Some fit info: I am wearing a medium which fit like a glove. I wonder if perhaps I should have tried the large too. Part of my likes the snugness but that also contributes to its casual vibe. I thought the quality was there, although not for its full retail amount. The prices of recent Anthropologie pieces have been exorbitant in my opinion (even on sale). If it makes it to second cut land, I might grab one. But I have the To a Tee blazer which is basically a more neutral, easy to wear version of this.

See, I think it would be a GREAT piece for professional fall and winter events.  I'm imagining a grey wool or tan cord pencil skirt with cognac pumps, or perhaps on top of a grey sheath dress.  I mean, it looks amazing with those eggplant pants, too, but I can see how that ensemble makes you think the blazer would swing casual.  I agree it's probably not worth this first cut, but if it makes second...you should rethink!  Looks great on you.

I decided to go ahead and get it with the 25% off a few weeks back. I thought about getting the large too but decided to stick with the medium--can't layer sweaters under it, but it still looks good. I'm not sure how I would dress it for a conference except maybe with dark pants or a dark skirt. Even for casual, it's just so pretty!

I think you can find stuff to wear with it.  The print is not loud.  I had it on my wish list for a while and I found the arms a bit snug, so I sized up to the large and will have the buttons moved over about an inch or so.  Lucky for me, all the NJ stores are doing the 40% off and I managed to get it for the sale price and then the 40% off, so it cose me $83.  I am soooooooo excited.

I can tell you that the Princeton NJ store had several of these last evening. I think the 40% off ends tomorrow.  Not sure if they would charge send to you or not.

Wow- I hadn't realized how expensive the blazer was, even though it's in my wishlist!  I think it's a sort of neutral print, so could still play well with some of your print dresses, and it doesn't seem too informal.  Do you know anyone living near a 40% off store?  Damn- this random promo is really annoying!

I'd totally wear that to a conference, with a skirt.  Maybe a grey skirt, and a white ruffly tee or blouse.  But scientists are notably casual and that would make me among the most dressed-up people there.

You look AMAZING in that blazer.

I really like the blazer but unfortunately it's too long for me. Even if it did work for me, I actually have the same problem as you- I almost exclusively wear skirts with prints and the only solid skirts I own are casual or in non-matching colors. I was thinking it would be nice but professional with a solid tan/camel/cognac/anything brown skirt, cream tie-neck blouse and simple heels.

I am conflicted about this blazer. I tried it on and loved it. My store had the extra 40% off last weekend. However, I have small shoulders and it was weirdly tight across the top of my back. I got that hard to move my arms feel from it. I had to pass because at $90 it was still too much to justify the tough fit. I hope it gets marked down further. I think it looks great on you though!

So my store has this marked down to $69.95 now - stopped in on my way home from work and noticed that (and my store isn't doing the 40% off now). I'm going to hold out and see if it goes lower still.

Jess - All stores should have extra 40% off sale items by now.  So if you are still debating about getting it you should be able to get it much cheaper now.

It's not all stores.  My store had the extra 40% over the weekend through Monday.  I was there was night.  However, it did make it to second cut price of $69.99, so if your local store is doing the 40% off and they have your size, not a bad deal. :)
