More backlogged OOTDs

I had a crazier than usual fall semester and as a result my blog updates fell to the bottom of my priority list. Hopefully things will be different this spring but with my ongoing pregnancy nausea and impending manuscript submission deadline, it will be difficult. After February I will have some reprieve. In the meanwhile here are some quick outfits from Fall that I never got around to sharing.

Up top is an old Anthro favorite, the Sketchbook Shirt Dress. I paired it with one of my older anniversary necklaces from Chris, spanx tights, and Tory Burch flats.

I wore this Marc by Marc Jacobs Marieka Tulip print dress a few times during the term. Above, I layered a cashmere cardigan by Aqua over top and wore Spanx tights and Sam Edelman Petty booties.

You can really see the tired on my face in this one but the color of the leaves reveal that the worst was yet to come. The dress is H&M, the necklaces are all gifts from loved ones, the tights are Spanx, and the shoes are Sam Edelman.

I have others that I will share this week but wanted to get myself caught up. Since I do like to keep this space as my own outfit diary it seems worth posting despite the time lapse.

Wild Card OOTD

My family is comprised of some pretty serious baseball fans. We're season ticket holders and we have been taking Emilia to games since she was very small. So we were all really disappointed to see the Pirates eliminated in the NL Wild Card game.

This was the third year in a row that the Pirates were unable to win their division but qualified to play in the Wild Card game and each year I have had to be on campus. I still enjoy showing my support for the team and expressing my fandom so I wore this on Wednesday. It's a bummer to be out and frustrating to have only one game be the determining factor, in a sport where series' are better determinants of team performance. But I'm trying to keep perspective. Although they lost, I never could have imagined five years ago that the Pirates would have a 2015 season where they won 98 games. Just five years ago, I was beginning my job and marrying Chris and the Pirates only had 57 wins. It's a huge turnaround and plenty to feel proud over.

Details:
Old Navy dress worn as skirt
Pirate t-shirt from TJ Maxx
Calson cardigan from Nordstrom
Spanx tights
Sam Edelman boots
Kate Spade bag

Mickey Mouse OOTD (not kidding)

When I imagined parenting before I was a mom, I expected that it would be pretty great. And I was right, on the whole. The highs are indeed high and you will go to great lengths in the name of your child's happiness and joy. But I (perhaps selfishly) didn't foresee parenting significantly influencing my sartorial choices beyond the logistics of maternity and postpartum wear.

And yet here I am, wearing a sequined Mickey Mouse sweater to correspond with Emilia's Minnie Mouse costume on Halloween. I've never felt comfortable describing Consume or Consumed as a "fashion blog" so I won't offer any apologies over broken stylish promises. But I still feel the need to explain myself so I will just say, "the things we do for love?" :)

Outfit details:
Sequined Mickey Mouse Sweater on sale now from Kohls
J. Crew Factory dress layered underneath
Spanx tights
Sam Edelmen Petty Boots (on sale now)!

Slightly askew OOTD

I wore this ensemble to campus not long ago. It was test-run on a recent First Friday as blogged here. I started the day with it belted but the belt proved to be fussier than I could tolerate.

I tested out a new spot on campus by using my tiny portable tripod. This thing is very bendy (it is the generic Gorillapod) and cute but I am still getting the hang of how to use it so that photos are level. Regarding the location, the second photo in the grass taught me a lesson. The creek that runs through campus leads to very damp surrounding ground. I will not be stepping off the sidewalk in heeled booties again.

Outfit info:
ChloƩ Landscape Dress worn as cardigan/coat (see other landscape pieces here, here, and here)
DVF Shawnessy (similar here, here, and here)
Spanx tights (20% off with coupon code INTHEFAMILY20)
Rosegold Liz booties (similar)
Kate Spade tote (similar news-themed tote here;  similar KS here)
Kors watch and Target bracelets

Wearing the pants

Anthro top
Missoni wool scarf (scored from DSW for $20 years back!)
Reva flats
Misc bracelets and necklaces

Lately as the temperatures have cooled, I've gravitated toward layers and pants. I don't think I wore pants to campus much last year (if at all). That will not hold true for this coming year.
