Wedding Consumption: The Decorative Bird Cage

While visiting family, I bought this little bird cage at TJ Maxx to help decorate and provide a functional card space for wedding well-wishers. I planned to find a vintage one at a thrift shop but stumbled upon this while browsing with my mom. It was probably more than a thrift store one would have cost but certainly not more than an antique and I like it enough to use for decoration in the future.

As a side note, I'm trying my best not to post too much about wedding stuff here, since I know that can get sort of old* but I did schedule my first fitting appointment with Anne Gregory for the Bride. The end of this month I will get to see and feel and wear my dress again and I would be lying if I claimed that didn't thrill me!

*I even started a wedding blog that I sort of abandoned along the way after I made it private/invite only.

What a great idea. That is so creative and it will be lovely to have others stuff it with good wishes. I'd love to hear about how the wedding is coming along!

TJ Maxx rules! I have always loved vintage birdcages and I think this one is a great design element for a wedding! btw... I sort of like hearing wedding stuff. It makes me feel less nervous about saying "I do" myself.

Dea, things are going well. The only major thing left is the invites which a friend is currently designing. We FINALLY registered last week (since shower invites go out this weekend). Everything else is a matter of writing checks and showing up. :)

Ashley, I'm relieved to hear people aren't put off by wedding chatter. I am so tight lipped about it around friends unless they ask cause I don't want to be perceived as a one-note kind of gal just because it is happening soon.

Brianna, That is such a nice idea! I might borrow it if/when Chris and I start a family!

Gee, That is a lovely idea. I bet it was visually stunning! Thanks so much for the warm wishes!

Desert Flower, you are too kind. I might bend your ear via email soon.

Cat, I love the getting the Maxx for the Minimum! haha We can talk wedding some time if you want!

Thank you all! Who knows.. as the date nears, I might talk about it a bit more. Thanks for the reassurance that it won't be received poorly!

I totally don't mind the wedding talk! I've definitely been indulging on it on my blog since I'm 3 weeks away. I got a bird cage from the nicest girl on weddingbee.com for $10! I picked it up in NYC and along the way people kept asking me about it and asking about my (nonexistent) bird lol.

Tres Tippy, I think you've done a great job of integrating it into the content of your blog. I am trying to learn from that for sure!

I can't wait to see the photos from your wedding, btw! I hope you share some on the blgo!!

That is so funny about the bird cage. What a deal, too!!
