Playing with the Queen of Hearts
I wore this second cut sale buy, the Pinochle skirt with a cardigan from Macys and some Giuseppe Zanotti studded captoe flats to teach my classes last Friday. I was glad this came in a petite length because hemming a patterned style where the most interesting parts of the fabric are at the bottom of the skirt would be a significant tailoring challenge. The petite sizing is smaller in the waist though. I wish I had sized up to the size 10p but it was sold out. The 8p fits albeit in a slightly constricted way. I wouldn't wear this one on Thanksgiving. :)
Still I adore the playing card print and am glad I snagged this for $20.

The Girl Who Loves Colorful Clothes
This is such a cute, whimsical outfit to teach in. If my teachers/professors dressed like you, I would have definitely paid more attention!
Hemming this would be a shame. Agreed it is awesome that it came in petite. Love the blog. So happy I'm finding more Pittsburgh fashion bloggers!
$20. !!!
very jealous. i love the print on it.
i love anthro and their quirky prints.
you look beautiful.

RE: Hemming the skirt when the pattern/embroidery etc. goes to the hem. You have to hem the OTHER end of the skirt. It's one of the few things I can do myself. I cut off the waist an inch or two and then re-do the waist with an elastic. Obviously this won't work with some skirts/fabrics, but most are fine. If you've measured your elastic the skirt will hit you and be on your waist (higher/lower) wherever you want it. And it will cinch in enough, but if you're between two sizes, say a 6 and 8 or an 8 and a 10, go with the smaller one. (I did this with the tweed skirt).
But I love this skirt on you!
aw, I wish I would have picked this one up. The print is so fun! The length is just perfect for you.
I just found your blog and I'm so happy I did because I love your style and you have a fabulous wardrobe! :)
Thank you Swati!
Tien, you are too kind!
Dana, I was glad to have a petite option for sure! I am also excited to see your blog! I added you to my reader and look forward to hearing more. You are gorgeous!
Gee, I know it was a great bargain! Thank you!
Skakespeare's feminine ending, that is a great point! It seems complicated though when a garment has little pleats at the waistline as this skirt does.
Pamela, thank you!
Brittany, welcome and thanks for reading!
Thank you all for reading!
This is such a pretty print. I like your styling, the background of the darker colors helps the skirt stand out. Great deal, too!
Thanks so much, Desert Flower! I was trying to decide what color to pair with it and just went with black out of frustration. haha
