What I (almost) Wore

Kate Spade skirt with Banana Republic sweater two ways

I haven't done it with enough regularity but every now and then it really helps to take some time and try on your clothes. It can be fun to explore new options and pairings (while evaluating whether you want to keep lesser worn items). For me, this many names: hypothetical dressing, playing dress up. what I almost wore, etc.

Spinning Lace dress two ways

I did this a few weeks ago when I was trying to come up with holiday party ensembles and it brought me to the  conclusion that I should part with my Spinning Lace dress. I loved the dress but I wore it once. Once in an entire year. That is just not fair to something so pretty. It almost saw a reprieve in one of the options above. But it has a new home with more opportunity to see use. Do you play dress up?

love these outfits on you Jess!  I need to play dress up more so I don't look at my closet blearily in the morning and pull on the first things I see! :)

I like the looks on the left, but the Kate Spade skirt is fantastic.  And, yes, i do play dress up.  Often the outfits I imagine in my head don't actually work once I try them on.

I spend some time putting outfits altogether on hangers (mostly work outfits so I don't have to worry in the morning). By doing this, I do try them on and then just by things laying all around on the bed, new combinations appear! Also, if there is a particular combo I ALWAYS pair together and one piece is already on a hanger as part of another outfit, then I have to find a new pairing. When I come home, I don't put the exact same outfit back on a hanger but use that as a change to mix it up (especially since the blouse/tee might be doing in the laundry

I love some of those outfits.  Particularly the two iterations with the green sweater untucked and the black ribbon/ belt.  Did you say that your spinning lace dress already has a new home?  Like past tense?  Oh well, I've been regretting not getting it when it went on sale last January and now I guess I'll have to keep passively looking.

I love playing dress up and trying to figure out new ways to style my wardrobe!

That Spinning Lace dress is just so lovely!! Too bad it wasn't get much wear time.

I don't play dress up that often (except in my head) because my closet is just way too small and cluttered/packed to deal with taking things in and out. If I had a walk-in closet or a dressing room, I'm sure I would play dress up all the time.

I know what you mean.  I often do a little closet review to see what's still working and what isn't.  The dress is gorgeous but I think you're right.  One wear in a year and maybe it's time for it to find a new home.
Love that KS skirt though.  So many possibilities!
