What I wore the night I went into labor...

I have a lot of maternity style outfits and brand reviews to get through on here but am a little busier than usual. So I wanted to share my outfit of the night I went into labor.

Target fox sweater dress (knockoff of this)
Maternity Tights by Assets
Payless flats

Baby Emilia Irene is doing well. Although I'm tired, same goes for me. I'll be sharing photos soon enough.

Squee!!  I hope she likes foxes and can be showered with copies of Fantastic Mr. Fox the book AND the adorable movie and some lovely onesies!  Your name choice is dreamy and I am beyond thrilled for the two of you!

Not surprisingly, you stole the words out of my mouth, style twin!

Jess, I can't post for whatever reason (only reply) but I wanted to say congrats to both of you! Our best wishes in this new stage! Can't wait for pictures and love love love the name you picked. I hope you are able to rest from the stressful academic life, even if it is for a little. Much love to you both!

Oh Congratulations!  It just seems like only a couple of months ago that you announced you were expecting.  A darling little girl, they are so much fun (as are boys) but little girl clothes are fun too!.
You are blessed!

Congratulations!  It is good to hear that everyone is healthy and doing well!  As a young academic who hopes to someday also be a mother, I would just like to thank you for blogging so honestly about your experiences during pregnancy.  It has been comforting to see that others have the same thoughts and concerns as me, and that it is indeed possible to balance this very personal part of your life with the professional.  I wish all the best for you and your family in the future.

I really wonder if she will be going back to work though. Wanting to before baby is one thing; actually doing so after baby is another. They grow up so fast. Balancing is a great ideal but doesn't always work well, sadly.

Thank you! My maternal great grandmother and paternal great grandfather had this name (except the great granddad was Emilio).  And Irene was Chris's paternal grandmother's name.

Oh wow! I had no idea, Carol. Great minds. :)

Emilia is my maternal great grandmother's name and my paternal great grandfather was Emilio so it was a nice way to honor both sides of my family.

Thank you so much for these kind words of encouragement. I am going to do the best I can but I am sure it won't be easy.

This is very true and an incredibly important point.

Though I will say that my financial situation is such that my family absolutely needs my income as much as my partner's so I know with certainty that I personally will be returning. I cannot say how I will feel about that return until it happens. I'm sure it will be much harder than I can fathom! But my work situation is also slightly more flexible than a typical 9-5 because I can do a lot of my non-in-class-teaching time and non-service work from home.

Thank you for your comment!
