Winter Water Factory Wildcats OOTD

winter water factory animal print
Winter Water Factory Wildcats tunic dress

I have been wearing this Cheetah tunic (called Wildcats) from Winter Water Factory with a lot of frequency. It's a little short to wear as a dress so I pair it with leggings or capris for school pick up/drop off, zoo trips, casual dinners, and even a faculty meeting. It is a fairly bold print so it yields a lot of commentary but all of it has been positive. Winter Water Factory makes matching or coordinating prints in children's clothing styles but I haven't yet bought matching options for the girls. We do have matching pieces from them that I've worn for Mother's Day. I'm waiting for a good sale before I buy more because the items are pretty pricey at retail.

Chris bought me this piece for my birthday. It's a new-to-me style from this brand and I might try to snag some in other prints. I am wearing a medium and it runs generously. I have collected a decent amount of Winter Water Factory pieces at this point, thanks to clearance sales. Some prints have held up better than others. The dark colored pieces I have show significant wash wear and fade, pretty easily. I've learned not to stick them in the dryer and to spot clean and hand wash to launder. It's kind of high maintenance for cotton jersey but I am willing to do it for a good print.

I'm wearing J.Jill leggings, some Nordstrom Rack flats from a brand I can't recall, and a French Terry zip jacket from Caslon. Thanks for reading!

Tiered Stripes Top

I was excited to find a Bailey 44 tiered piece at the Mission Valley Nordstrom Rack while I was in San Diego. I grabbed it and immediately worked it into my wardrobe rotation. I wore it for a day of informal meetings and campus business.

It was cold that day so I had a few layers that worked with the outfit for interoffice/interbuilding travels.

The entire outfit is pretty dark and fall-like but I prefer fall colors anyway so I'll risk seasonal inappropriateness.

Details:
Bailey 44 tiered stripe/pieced column top (summery tank versions here and here)
J. Crew matchstick cords (on sale for $19.99 before coupon codes!)
Romeo and Juliet cardi
Stuart Weitzman flats (similar here and here)
Marc by Marc Jacobs bag
Kors watch (15% off watches on saks with coupon code "friends"; 20% off clothes!)

Quick weekend shopping OOTD

J. Crew draped neck silk blouse
Michael Kors Calista hobo
Misc. bracelets (gift, KJL, Target)

I wore this to the mall with a girlfriend where I got my new watch band fitted to my wrist and grabbed some pretty table linens from Williams Sonoma who was having a huge clearance sale. It's nice to go to the mall in January cause it is so much more peaceful than it is in the lead up to Christmas.

How was your weekend?

Another quick pants outfit

To a Tee Blazer
Zebra top from Anthro (similar here)
Kate Spade Bon Shopper tote (loving this matchbook print version)

I wore this for errands and to stop in Anthro the other week. I am so behind on posts and outfits and life! I might just do an omnibus entry with some recent hits. Though first I need to have the breathing room to compose such an entry... I also apologize for my absenteeism among my fellow bloggers. My reader is stocked full of your recent posts and I am looking forward to when I can comb through everything.

Weekend Casual OOTD

Alma Mater blazer from Anthro
J Crew Rosette sweater
Gucci wedges (in suede here)

Back in February I bought these chinos at J. Crew on major sale. They were about a size too big and way too long but I figured I would branch out from my comfort zone of printed dresses and skirts to try something trendy for a change. I knew I wanted to cuff them and wear them baggy so too big and too long fit the bill. The pants remind me of my favorite pair I wore to death in the 90s. Those were a steel gray color but the feel of them was exactly the same. They're slouchy and I am sure that my somewhat short, non-lithe body was not who they had in mind when they imagined people wearing slouchy chinos, but I enjoy doing something different now and then.

Chilly Casual Colors: OOTD

I wore this the last two days basically. For dog walks, for teaching, for running to the store. It is an easy and quick outfit that I think looks relatively pulled together.

J. Crew Annalise ruffle cami in a cinnamon (which is a deep mustard rust hue). (similar here)
Charter Club embellished cardigan from Macys in navy. (Similar here)
J. Crew stretch bootcut cords in Aubergine
Burberry jeweled satin flats (similar here)
Swatch watch
Flower cuff bracelet (similar here)

My mom got me the cardigan for my birthday. It has really cute details in the trims and button choice.
I like the mix of colors, in part because the navy paired with a deep mustard cinnamon reminds me of this MBMJ Alessandra Pussy Bow dress that I haven't worn for a while.
I guess I gravitate toward familiar combinations. Maybe I am subconsciously sending a message to wear the above again soon?
