Quick OOTDress that got away

These days my clothing wish list runs pretty short, especially when it comes to offerings currently available in stores. I don't have much time to shop in person or browse websites, and despite my recent Anthro sale purchase, I've become more frugal in my spending overall (especially when it comes to myself).

Although I long packed away my maternity wardrobe, I only recently began digging out from storage the pieces that didn't fit and/or weren't breastfeeding friendly last winter. I am excited to be able to wear a lot of my old favorites and have been cycling through them happily. Not everything fits me now but that is ok. I know my body is holding onto some weight for a few reasons and if it stays, I have made peace with it.

As I've revisited my old favorites, I've also been reminded of a few "ones that got away," like the above striped See by Chloé dress (see on the blog here, originally). I passed on buying it from the closing sale of Pittsburgh's Saks Fifth Avenue because I was waiting and hoping for a steeper discount. It sold out before that point and the dress has lingered on my wish list since. I occasionally would see it on ebay but never for a price I was willing to pay until recently. So now it is mine. It does fit a little differently from my fit review post originally. But I still like it and wore it the other day to go shopping at Anthropologie and to have dinner with Chris and Emilia at Social at Bakery Square.

Details:
See by Chloé striped sweater dress
Spanx tights
Tory Burch Revas
Burberry Balmoral trench (links here and above are to current season versions but all of my pieces are old)
Orla Kiely Punched Leather Stem Bag (still available in tan here, olive here, yellow here, and a slightly smaller version in black here)-- This was a very fancy anniversary gift from Chris in keeping with traditional leather goods to mark three years of marriage).

My "in denial" and "in reality" back to school wishlists

Anthropologie, See by Chloe, Marc by Marc Jacobs

Just because I am pregnant doesn't mean I have stopped coveting new arrivals from my favorite brands and favorite stores. Of course, it would be silly to shop for such things when I wouldn't be able to wear them. So I have one hypothetical (in denial) wish list and one practical (in reality) wish list to share in anticipation of the fall semester's start. First up, the fun ("in denial") one above.

Hi there, perfect peter pan collar on a Kate Spade dress!! I also included some old and less old fitting room favorites that I have refrained from buying even though I really love them.

Also, heads up to Yoox fans: Tonight, from 8pm-8am, you can get 10% off all orders with code: AFTERDARK.

And below is my still fun (but less so) "in reality" (i.e. mostly maternity) wish list for back to school:

Old Navy, Everly Grey, Asos, A Pea in the Pod

I think that sticking with mostly simple solid colors and basic shapes will enable me to buy less and repeat more. I am a little nervous about whether the pregnant professorial body will be a distraction or a subject of conversation among my students. I guess I will find out in less than two weeks!

Even if you aren't going "back to school" to work or study, this is often a favorite time of year to begin outfit planning. I always take the time to evaluate what I already have in my closet that might be similar to the items in stores that wow me. If your taste is pretty consistent then you might already have a good substitute for the new garment you want.

Mostly impractical (for me right now) wishlist

Although I have no clue how my body will change as a result of carrying a pregnancy to term, I cannot help but browse, especially when there are so many sales every weekend. It would be great to be back into my regular summer clothes for next summer but I also want to be open minded with regard to how things may shift. I don't know that my waist will return to its former (relative to the rest of me) small state.

Just because I am uncertain about how my body will turn out doesn't mean my tastes have changed much. Above is a compilation of some current sale favorites from across the retail cyberspace. My favorite are the Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs animal themed shoes (mouse flats, someday you will be mine!).
