Another Pregnant in Boden OOTD
I wore this to campus near the beginning of my third trimester. I kept such good visual records during my pregnancy with Emilia and feel guilty that I haven't made it a priority this time around. But at least I do have outfit photos and rough gestational estimates.
It's a lot harder to prioritize weekly belly photos with everything that is happening around here. Grant work, my annual review, the assembling of my tenure dossier, and the revisions of my book manuscript have kept me very busy. On top of that we might be buying a bigger house, moving, and selling our current house. The bigger house is in the neighborhood where we already live happily and it has a ton of potential to be great. But bringing out its greatness will take a lot of work. Work I can't really do in my third trimester, with the professional responsibilities I have looming over me, with Emilia needing plenty from me, with a husband who travels for work in a demanding, stressful job, with a newborn in a few weeks, and so on and so forth. Suffice to say, I am nervous.
Somehow, so much has to happen before baby comes in July... I am very overwhelmed but it isn't lost on me that these are all very good, if time consuming developments. These are happy, exciting "problems." I feel pregnant with anticipation while being pregnant the regular way.
Details:
Boden dress (procured at the sample sale in Pittsburgh a while back... unsure of the style name)
Spanx tights
Tory Burch flats

Two-Wheeler in action at Yo La Tengo and a Home Fashion Update
Here you can see Chris and I at Yo La Tengo in the park! When I asked our friend who took the photo to get head to toe, Chris lamented his choice of footwear but honestly, he wasn't wearing shoes for very long after that. It was a beautiful evening! We ate watermelon and drank surreptitiously on our blankets with friends while the sun set and it felt too perfect.
A few weeks ago, we made another home upgrade. The kitchen ceiling fan was among the most loud and hideous I've ever seen. It was awful enough that I didn't think to photograph it until it was safely removed from the house.
We replaced it thanks to Chris's handiwork.
Much better!

Soon to be homeowner
So we decided to buy, put an offer on a place, after further negotiations, it was accepted. Now we
will be consumed by homeownership. And all of the financial stability and uncertainty that come with it.
Since I last posted, I've moved out of my home in Pittsburgh. I wrapped up the grading for my two summer courses. I became ABD (all-but-dissertation... aka advanced to candidacy with an accepted project proposal). I moved my things into a garage in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. I found a lender for my mortgage and signed the appropriate papers. I scheduled a closing date and began planning for how to decorate my new home with my partner. And I've moved myself to DC for a Smithsonian predoc. Things have been hectic. And stressful. Retail therapy was kept to a minimum but I did manage to buy a dress to reward/console myself for surviving all the changes. I am not unscathed... and I got into many stress-fueled arguments with loved ones over the speed of the changes (which were largely out of my control anyway). I wasn't going to keep the dress. But I really really like it. So much so that I posted about it a few weeks ago, here. It magically popped up on the website the other day.
Cute, right? Marc by Marc Jacobs Alessandra dress in Ochre. Shown with a gap cardigan, volatile shoes, and my mbmj softy max tote. I also want to keep one of the ones I was supposed to return.

Now that I am somewhat settled... sort of, anyway... I will be able to post regularly again!
